About Kerrie Knight

I am a fully accredited member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists (UKCP) and BACP. In 2014 I qualified through the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE) where I also completed my Masters in Psychotherapy together with Northampton University. I am passionate about the connection between the mind and the body.

I have completed several specialist courses on this subject, many before qualifying as a psychotherapist, including Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Emotrance and Bodytalk with more recent studies involving EMDR and Brainspotting. All of these modalities comprise accessing parts of the body as a way to release difficult feelings or trauma held deep within the nervous system.

When we learn how to express the True Self innate within us all we can live a more authentic and harmonious life.

I am influenced by Transpersonal Therapy, a holistic therapy which brings to the surface our positive feeling of self-worth and releases inner potential. Using techniques such as Brainspotting, visual aids and dream therapy, I help my clients find an understanding of their intrapsychic world. That connection with the deepest part of yourself (which we refer to as the True Self) even for the briefest moment, allows the more wounded parts to begin to heal.

Some of the issues I have helped clients with:

  • Addiction

  • Anger issues

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Bereavement and loss

  • Codependence & relationship issues

  • Eating disorders

  • Existential issues

  • Guilt and shame

  • Health issues

  • Personality disorders including DID & borderline

  • Trauma - including PTSD with EMDR & Brainspotting

Trauma Therapy

I specialise in trauma therapy, helping my clients to understand deep wounds that may affect their ability to cope with painful thoughts or function in day-to-day life. I use visual aids and techniques developed through years of training and research to help access a deeper level of consciousness. Finding clarity in our suffering is often the beginning of the healing process. Trauma therapy builds the resilience we need to face what we might feel unbearable, and find comfort in a renewed connection with the deepest part of ourselves.

The Wisdom of Trauma

Dr Gabor Mate’s groundbreaking film, The wisdom of Trauma, explores the concept that every human being has a True Authentic Self. Trauma is the disconnection from our True Self, and healing is the reconnection to our True Self. Suffering from our past and societal pressures can cause us to become disconnected from ourselves; this is when discord and suffering can arise. Much of my work is centred on understanding trauma and helping people to heal by connecting with their inner world.

MY VALUES

  • AUTHENTICITY

I bring my true self with me wherever I am
